COBA Major League Week XII Recap feat Etobicoke Rangers

The Etobicoke Rangers played a pair of games this week as they prepared themselves for the 2022 Sr AAA Men's Elimination Tournament in Windsor. The Rangers were able to grab a pair of wins and push their overall record to 12-4-2 in COBA Major League play. 

 

On Monday, Etobicoke made the trek to Greg Cranker Field in Mississauga to take on the Erindale Cardinals in their first tune up game. There was no line score reports for this game but the Rangers took this game by a score of 16-3 over the Cardinals. This game was ended after seven innings due to the league mercy rule. 

 

Daniel Murphy led the way offensively for Etobicoke going 4-for-5 at the plate scoring three runs and had an RBI. Ryan Panas was 3-for-4 with three doubles, a walk, a pair of runs and an RBI while Kyle Bowers was 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, a run and three RBIs. Steve Miller was 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored while Jaykob Turner was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, a walk, two runs and five RBIs. 

 

Alex Thrower was 1-for-3 with a pair of HBPs, a walk and four runs scored while brother Eric Thrower was also 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk a pair of runs scored and three RBI. Brad Crone (R, RBI) and Xavier Whittle (2 RBI)each had a hit to round out the Etobicoke offense. Jay Woodford was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs while Jon Amendola was also 2-for-4 with two doubles to lead the Erindale offense. 

 

The Rangers used a trio of arms on the mound in this one to get all their guys some work before the weekend. Brendan Lyons started and went a pair of innings allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits collecting the win. He walked one batter and struck out one as well. Mike Asta followed him to the mound also throwing two innings allowing no runs on a hit while walling one and striking out one.

 

Steve Ryan was the final Etobicoke hurler on the night. He went three innings allowing one run (earned) on four hits. He walked one batter while striking out three. Cardinals call-up Iliyan Bhanji started and took the loss for Erindale. He went 1 2/3 innings allowing nine runs (all earned) on seven hits. He hit one batter while walking a pair as well. 

 

On Tuesday, the Rangers made a rare Tuesday night appearance at Oakville Park and a date with the A's. Again, np line score was provided for this game but the Rangers keep the bats rolling in this game as they won by a score of 16-3. This game was also halted after seven innings due to the league mercy rule. 

 

Tony Tedesco was the hot bat on this night for the Rangers going 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Daniel Murphy, the only other Etobicoke player with a multi-hit game, was 2-for-5 while Dan Franseschetti was 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs and three RBIs. Ryan Panas was 1-for-2 with a apir of walks, two runs and an RBI while Hunter Bisser was 1-for-2 with a walk and a pair of runs. 

 

Alex Thrower was 1-for-4 with a walk, a pair of runs and an RBI while Mark Capone was 1-for-3 with a walk, a pair of HBPs, three runs scored and an RBI. Michael Ferracuti was 1-for-3 with a pair of walks, a run and an RBI while Kyle Bowers rounded out the Etobicoke offense with an HBP and a run scored. No hitting stats were reported for Oakville. 

 

On the mound, again, the Rangers used a small army as four players saw action in this one. Kyle Angelow started going 2/3 of an inning allowing a hit and issued a walk. James Graham followed him to the mound throwing 2 1/3 innings allowing no runs or hits and striking out two to collect the win.

 

Xavier Whittle also threw a pair of innings allowing three runs (all earned) on two hits while Justin Teichmann finished up with two scoreless and hitless innings collecting a pair of strikeouts. Again, no pitching stats were reported by the Oakville club.
