Cards Doubled Up at Home Against Burlington

The Erindale Cardinals continued their slow start to their 2019 season as they dropped a 10-5 decision last night at home against the visiting Burlington Brants. The Brants put this one to bed early as they put up two runs in each of the first four innings to take a quick 8-0 lead. The Cards chipped away as they put up single runs in both the 4th & 6th innings to trim the lead to 8-2.

 

The Brants contiued to add on though as they added a run in the 7th inning but Erindale answered back with a run in the home half to cut the lead again to 9-3. Burlington added another run in the 8th to increase their lead to 10-3. Erindale was able to tack on a couple more runs leading to the final score of 10-5.

 

Aaron Palmer led the way for the Cardinals at the plate going 3-for-4 with three single as well as a run and an RBI. Jay Woodford was 2-for-5 with a doubleand a pair of RBI while Mike Caleb was 1-for-4 with a home run and a pair of RBI. Tim Sogan was the big stick for Burlington going 2-for-3 with a walk, a sac fly and three RBI.

 

Zach Bayfield took the loss on the hill for Erindale. He went two and a third innings allowing six runs on five hits while walking five batters.Andrew Mullin threw an inning and a third allowing a pair of runs on four hits while walking one and collecting a strikeout.

 

Dan Estey threw a pair of scoreless innings allowing two hits and two walks while Kevin Lucas threw two innings allowing two runs (one earned) on no hits and allowing a pair of walks. Adam Forsey threw a clean 9th inning collecting a strikeout. Cam Ryerson threw six innings allowing a run on five hits with seven strikeouts to collect the win.

 

With the loss Erindale now drops to 0-3 on the young season while Burlington improves to 1-2 on the year. Erindale wil lnow get a few days off but will be back in action Thursday night as they travel to the Flower City to take on the Brampton Royals. Game time is slated for 7:15pm at Dave Dash Memorial FIeld and Dan Nauth will get the call on the hill for the Cards.
